Abstract
On social media platforms like Twitter, people often switch languages in their posts, which is called code-switching. It's a common phenomenon in multilingual or multicultural communities, where individuals may seamlessly switch between languages depending on the context, audience, or topic of conversation. Despite seeing a lot of language switching on Twitter (X), some people still don't fully understand why it occurs. This gap in understanding makes it challenging to grasp how people communicate online. Nessie Judge is a youtuber from Indonesia and often uses code-switching when speaking in her videos and that also happens in her twitter account. And therefore The researcher interested in examining her tweets, A detailed linguistic analysis of Nessie Judge's tweets might provide new insights into code-switching patterns among social media influencers. In this research, the writer used a qualitative descriptive approach as the method, allowing the writer to delve into the topic in detail. An approach called descriptive qualitative research is one which employs the use of qualitative data. Instead of using numerical data, it consists of gathering information through language and words. This is in line with the aim of this research which is to examine the use of code-switching found in Nessie Judge's tweets which are in the form of sentences. The research findings indicate that the most common type of code-switching used by Nessie Judge is inter-sentential, with a total of 44 instances in her tweets. In contrast, there are only 27 instances of intra-sentential code-switching. Additionally, no examples of tag switching were found in Nessie Judge's Twitter account.
