Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are a strategic vegetable horticultural commodity, because they are needed for household consumption and the food industry. Ultisol is classified as marginal land with low productivity levels, low pH (<5.5), generally low nutrient content. Efforts to increase the fertility of ultisol soil by adding organic materials such as cow dung trichocompost. Cow dung trichocompost plays a role in increasing the production of shallot plants because it can increase the content of macro and micro nutrients, improve soil structure, make aggregates larger so they can hold water and aeration runs well, increase the biological activity of soil microorganisms, so that the soil becomes fertile. This research was carried out at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University, located in Mendalo Indah Village, Jambi Luar Kota District, Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province. The research was carried out for 3 months, from February 2024 to May 2024. The research used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with trichocompost doses, namely p0 (0 ton ha-1), p1 (10 ton ha-1), p2 (20 ton ha-1), p3 (30 tons ha-1), p4 (40 tons ha-1). The variables observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), number of tubers, weight per clove (g), and tuber weight per cluster (g). Key words: Shallots, Trichokompos cow dung
