Abstract
Tomato (Lycopersicum esculantum MIll.) is a plant that has potential to be developed. Tomato productivity in Jambi Province has exceeded the national scale. However, cultivating tomato plants cannot be separated from the use of inorganic fertilizer to support their growth. Excessive use of inorganic fertilizer can reduce the quality of the soil and the environment, therefore the use of inorganic fertilizer can be reduced by using liquid organic fertilizer. Red onion skin contains nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and iron, apart from that it contains the hormones auxin and gibberellin which are growth hormones. Rice washing water is an organic material containing phosphorus, vitamin B1, vitamin B3, vitamin B6, manganese, phosphorus, iron, fiber and essential fatty acids. This research aims to study the effect of liquid organic fertilizer from onion skins and rice washing water on the growth and yield of tomato plants. This research was carried out at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University, Mendalo Indah Village, Jambi Luar Kota District, Muaro Jambi Regency. The experimental method used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with planting media treated with shallot peel POC and rice washing water with concentrations of 0 mL.L-1, 100 mL.L-1 200 mL.L-1, 300 mL.L- 1, and 400 mL.L-1 To see the effect of treatment on the observed variables, namely plant height, stem diameter, number of fruit per plant, fruit weight per plant, and fruit weight per fruit, the data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and further tests using BNT at the p=0.05 level. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the administration of shallot skin POC and rice washing water had an effect on the variables of number of fruit per plant, fruit weight per plant, and fruit weight per fruit with the best concentration of shallot skin POC and rice washing water, namely 200 mL.L-1 Key words : Tomato, POC of shallot skin and rice washing water
