Abstract
Daerah penelitian terletak pada bagian timur Gunung Tandikat yang terdapat 2 formasi yaitu, Formasi Quarter Andesit Singgalang – Tandikat dan Permian Silungkang tepatnya di Nagari Singgalang, Kecamatan X Koto, Kabupaten Tanah Datar, Sumatra Barat. Batuan piroklastik adalah batuan vulkanik bertekstur klastik yang dihasilkan oleh serangkaian proses yang berkaitan dengan letusan gunungapi. Material penyusun tersebut terendapkan dan terbatukan/terkonsolidasikan sebelum mengalami transportasi (reworked) oleh air atau es. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menentukan karakteristik piroklastik dan fasies gunungapi daerah penelitian berdasarkan sebaran piroklastiknya. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengamatan bentang alam, struktur geologi dan stratigrafi pada daerah penelitian dan analisis laboratorium. Menentukan karakteristik piroklastik berdasarkan pengamatan megaskropis dan pengamatan mikroskopis dengan melakukan sayatan batuan lalu dilakukan analisis petrografi untuk mengetahui karakteristik mineral yang terdapat pada batuan. Menentuan fasies gunung api dilakukan pemetaan fasies gunungapi di daerah penelitian dilakukan pengamatan secara tak langsung dan secara langsung. Pengamatan secara tak langsung dilakukan pengamatan dengan melakukan penginderaan jauh meliputi analisis citra satelit, serta pengamatan secara langsung diantaranya dengan mengamati geomorfologi dan stratigrafi batuan gunungapi Kata Kunci : Karakteristik Piroklastik, Batuan Piroklastik Gunung Api, Fasies Gunungapi The research area is located in the eastern part of Mount Tandikat where there are 2 formations, namely, the Singgalang – Tandikat and Permian Quarter Andesite Formations Silungkang is precisely in Nagari Singgalang, X Koto District, Tanah Regency Datar, West Sumatra.Pyroclastic rocks are volcanic rocks with a clastic texture produced by a series of processes related to volcanic eruptions. The constituent materials were deposited and rocked/consolidated before undergoes transportation (reworked) by water or ice. This research was conducted for determine the pyroclastic characteristics and volcanic facies of the research area based on the pyroclastic distribution. The method used includes observation landforms, geological structures and stratigraphy in the research and analysis area laboratory. Determine the characteristics of pyroclastics based on observations megascopic and microscopic observations by making rock incisions Petrographic analysis was carried out to determine the characteristics of the minerals present on rocks. Determining volcanic facies is carried out by mapping volcanic facies in In the research area, indirect and direct observations were made. Indirect observation is carried out by making observations Remote sensing includes analysis of satellite images, as well as direct observation including by observing the geomorphology and stratigraphy of volcanic rocks.
