Abstract
Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendapatkan dosis yang memberikan pengaruh terbaik untuk pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung manis (Zea mays saccharata Sturt). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama 3 bulan dari bulan Maret sampai Mei 2024 di lahan Teaching and research Farm Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jambi, yang berlokasi di Desa Mendalo Indah, Kecamatan Jambi Luar Kota, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi, Provinsi Jambi dengan ketinggian ± 35 mdpl. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) satu faktor yaitu pemberian biochar sekam padi yang terdiri dari 6 taraf perlakuan yaitu b0 (0 ton.ha-1 ), b1 (5 ton.ha-1 ), b2 (10 ton.ha-1 ), b3 (15 ton.ha1 ), b4 (20 ton.ha-1 ), b5 (25 ton.ha-1 ) dengan 4 kali ulangan, setiap satuan percobaan terdiri dari 16 tanaman sehingga jumlah seluruh tanaman 384 tanaman. Untuk setiap satuan percobaan diambil 4 tanaman sebagai sampel sehingga terdapat 96 tanaman sampel. Variabel yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman (cm), luas daun (cm2 ), umur panen (HST), diameter tongkol bersih (mm), panjang tongkol bersih (cm) dan berat tongkol bersih (g). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian biochar sekam padi dengan dosis 25 ton.ha-1 belum mampu mendorong pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung manis. Namun umur panen jagung manis dapat dipercepat dengan pemberian dosis 5 ton.ha-1 - 15 ton.ha-1 biochar sekam padi. This study was conducted with the aim of determining and obtaining the dose that provides the best effect on the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt). This study was conducted for 3 months from March to May 2024 on the Teaching and Research Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jambi, located in Mendalo Indah Village, Jambi Luar Kota District, Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province with an altitude of ± 35 meters above sea level. The design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor, namely the provision of rice husk biochar consisting of 6 treatment levels, namely b0 (0 tons.ha-1), b1 (5 tons.ha-1), b2 (10 tons.ha-1), b3 (15 tons.ha-1), b4 (20 tons.ha-1), b5 (25 tons.ha-1) with 4 replications, each experimental unit consisted of 16 plants so that the total number of plants was 384 plants. For each experimental unit, 4 plants were taken as samples so that there were 96 sample plants. The variables observed were plant height (cm), leaf area (cm2), harvest age (DAP), clean cob diameter (mm), clean cob length (cm) and clean cob weight (g). The results showed that the provision of rice husk biochar with a dose of 25 tons.ha-1 was not able to encourage the growth and yield of sweet corn plants. However, the sweet corn harvest age can be accelerated by administering a dose of 5 tons.ha-1 - 15 tons.ha-1 of rice husk biochar.
