Abstract
ABSTRACT The study of economic growth and economic development in development economics occupies an important position among economists. In this context, an in-depth analysis of Indonesia's economic performance becomes very important to understand the direction of development and the future potential of this country. This study aims to analyze the effect of economic performance and poverty index on the receipt of index zakat mediated by Islamic welfare (Islamic Human Development Index (I-HDI)) in Sumatra. The type of research used in this study is explanatory research. This study uses time series data from 2012-2022 covering all provinces in Sumatra Island. Data analysis was conducted using the Structural Equation Modeling method with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach. Data were obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), Bappeda, Bank Indonesia, and other official sources. The results showed that: 1) Testing the first hypothesis results in a path coefficient value of 0.581 (positive) with a t-stat value of 5.083 and a p-value of 0.000 < sig 0.005. These results indicate that the effect of Economic Performance on the Islamic Welfare of zakat is 0.581 and significant. Islamic Welfare has a significant effect on Zakat in Sumatra, 2) Testing the second hypothesis results in a path coefficient value of 0.070 (negative) with a t-stat value of 0.475 and a p-value of 0.635 > sig 0.005. These results indicate that the effect of Economic Performance on zakat is 0.070 and insignificant Economic Performance has a negative effect on Zakat revenue in Sumatra, 3) Testing the third hypothesis, the path coefficient value is 0.136 (negative) with a t-stat value of 1,000 and a p-value of 0.317 > sig 0.005. This result shows that the effect of poverty on Islamic Welfare is 0.136 and insignificant Poverty has a negative effect on Islamic Welfare in Sumatra, 4) Testing the fourth hypothesis results in a path coefficient value of 0.039 (negative) with a t-stat value of 0.278 and a p-value of 0.781> sig 0.005. This result shows that Poverty has no significant positive effect on Zakat is 0.039 and insignificant. Poverty has no significant effect on Zakat in Sumatra, 5) Testing the fifth hypothesis, the path coefficient value is 0.651 (positive) with a t-stat value of 6.253 and a p-value of 0.000 < sig 0.005. These results indicate that Islamic Welfare has a significant positive effect on Zakat 0.651 and significant. Islamic Welfare has a positive and significant effect on Zakat in Sumatra, 6) Testing the sixth hypothesis path coefficient of 0.581 (positive) with a t-stat value of 4.673 and a p-value of 0.000 and a path coefficient value of 0.651 (positive) with a t-stat value of 6.282 and a p-value of 0.000 < sig 0.005. Economic Performance has a positive and significant effect on Islamic Welfare and Zakat revenue in Sumatra. It is expected that the findings of this study will provide practical advice for government agencies to encourage inclusive economic growth to ensure that increasing income and decreasing unemployment can strengthen the potential of zakat. In addition, it is expected that zakat management in Sumatra can be more effective in supporting the improvement of people's welfare and contributing to the reduction of poverty and social inequality Keywords: Economic Growth, Zakat, Poverty, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS)
