Abstract

Handling sexual violence in higher education is a very important matter to address for several reasons. First, sexual harassment has a very serious impact on the victim both physically, socially and psychologically. Second, many cases are not reported because they are considered a shame or the victim is even under pressure from the perpetrator so they choose to remain silent. Third, sexual violence is considered normal so it is not a priority problem that must be resolved immediately. Some violence is not even considered sexual violence, such as catcalling, such as uttering words in a loud voice with sexual tendencies, such as shouting, making comments to women passing by on the street or whistling, poking and touching certain body parts. To answer this problem, legal education that is carried out consistently and continuously needs to be encouraged so that it becomes a priority agenda for mainstreaming awareness of the importance of understanding the prevention of sexual violence, especially at service partner institutions, namely applied undergraduate students at the Ministry of Health's health polytechnic midwifery academy in Jambi Province. Apart from that, provision for the formation of a task force at the Jambi Ministry of Health Polytechnic also needs to be encouraged as a preventive effort by the campus to ensure and provide comfort for campus residents in carrying out their activities.
