Abstract
ABSTRACT Electricity is a basic need for every individual in this modern era, and its existence greatly facilitates various human activities. However, even though there are policies related to the provision of electricity, there are still areas such as Lagan Ulu Village that have not received electricity. This reflects the gap in the distribution of electrical energy, which can have a negative impact on the quality of life of the community in the area. This study aims to analyze the implementation of electricity policies in Lagan Ulu Village, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency. Using a qualitative approach through interviews with the ESDM Office, PT PLN, UP2K Jambi Province, and BPD Lagan Ulu Village, this study explores the challenges and opportunities in providing and equalizing electricity needs in the area. Although there are policies that regulate electricity management, the results of the analysis show that their implementation often does not meet community expectations. This study identifies various challenges in providing electricity as well as a lack of collaboration between the government, PT PLN, and the community, which causes dissatisfaction among residents regarding access to and costs of electricity. Therefore, policy recommendations are needed that are more responsive to local needs and increase community participation in decision-making. Thus, synergy between the government, society and private sector is expected to encourage economic growth and public welfare through better electricity management. Keywords: electrification, electricity policy, public welfare
