Abstract

This study aims to analyze the translation of short stories from English to Indonesian using Google Translate and human translation comparatively. The research method used is qualitative, with a descriptive approach to identify differences in translation quality from both sources. The data analyzed includes aspects of meaning conformity, language fluency, and the application of linguistic rules. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the translations produced by human translators have a higher level of accuracy than Google Translate. The human translations showed a better understanding of the context, the use of appropriate vocabulary, and the appropriateness of the language style to the characters of the short stories, while Google Translate tended to produce literal translations. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of human involvement in the translation process, especially for texts that require interpretation of cultural context and emotions.
