Abstract

Ultisol merupakan salah satu jenis tanah di Indonesia yang mempunyai sebaran luas sekitar 25% dari total luas daratan Indonesia, Provinsi Jambi memiliki 42,53% dari luas Provinsi Jambi. Produksi tanaman kedelai di Provinsi Jambi pada tahun 2015 hingga 2018 mengalami kenaikan, namun produksi kedelai di Indonesia belum mencukupi kebutuhan sehingga memerlukan impor dari luar negeri. Upaya peningkatan produksi kedelai di dalam negeri dapaat dilakukan dengan menambah luas budidaya kedelai, yaitu pemanfaatan tanah Ultisol sebagai lahan budidaya kedelai dengan memperbaiki sifat fisika tanah untuk menciptakan lingkungan dan optimal. Perbaikan sifat fisika tanah Ultisol dapat dilakukan dengan pemberian kompos kotoran sapi dan Mucuna bracteata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian kompos campuran kotoran sapi dan Mucuna bracteata terhadap beberapa sifat fisika Ultisol dan hasil kedelai. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) non faktorial dengan perlakuan kompos kotoran sapi dan Mucuna bracteata yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 6 ulangan, sehingga terdapat 24 petak percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian kompos campuran kotoran sapi dan Mucuna bracteata mampu meningkatkan bahan organik tanah, menurunkan berat volume tanah, meningkatkan total ruang pori, meningkatkan agregat terbentuk daan kemantapaan agregat serta tinggi tanaman, namun belum mampu berpengaruh terhadap hasil produksi kedelai. Pemberian dosis 15 ton/ha kompos kotoran sapi dan Mucuna bracteata merupakan dosis terbaik dalam memperbaiki sifat fisik Ultisol dan pertumbuhan tinggi tanaman. Ultisol is categorized of soil with an extensive distribution in Indonesia, covering approximately 25% of the nation's total land area. Jambi Province have 42.53% of the total area of the province. Soybean production in Jambi Province showed an increasing between 2015 and 2018, the national soybean production in Indonesia has not been able to domestic demand, necessitating import activities from overseas. Efforts to optimize soybean production can be pursued through the expansion of cultivation areas, utilizing the potential of Ultisol soil as planting areas. The amelioration of the physical properties of Ultisol soil can be implemented application of compost from cow manure and Mucuna bracteata. This research was conducted with the investigating effect of applying a mixed compost of cow manure and Mucuna bracteata on several physical properties of Ultisol and soybean yield. This research non-factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD), the application of cow manure and Mucuna bracteata compost comprising 4 treatment types and 6 replications in a total of 24 experimental plots. The research results that the application of a mixed compost of cow manure and Mucuna bracteata was significantly able to increase soil organic matter content, decrease soil bulk density, increase total soil pore, soil aggregate and aggregate stability, as well as increase soybean plant height. The application of compost didn’t show a significant effect on soybean production yield. The application of cow manure and Mucuna bracteata compost at a dose of 15 tons per hectare was identified as the most effective dose in improving the physical properties of Ultisol soil and increasing soybean plant height growth
