Abstract

ABSTRACT Inceptisol is a soil order that has low organic matter content, less stable structure, low porosity and high bulk density. The decline in soil quality in Inceptisol land, characterized by low organic matter content, high bulk density, and unstable soil aggregates, poses a significant challenge to agricultural development. This study aimed to analyze the effects of applying lamtoro compost and coconut shell biochar on aggregate stability of Inceptisol and tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) yield. The research was conducted in Tangkit Village, Muaro Jambi Regency, using a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with five treatments and five replications. Observed parameters included soil physical properties (organic matter content, bulk density, total porosity, aggregate formation, and aggregate stability) as well as plant height and tomato yield. The results showed that the combination of 10 tons/ha lamtoro compost and 5 tons/ha coconut shell biochar (a2) was the most effective treatment, increasing organic matter content (8.20%), reducing bulk density (1.17 g/cm³), and improving total porosity (54.60%), aggregate formation (81.95%), and aggregate stability (72.87%). This treatment also produced the tallest plants (55.35 cm) and the highest yield (12.34 kg/plot). Therefore, the combination of lamtoro compost and coconut shell biochar effectively improves the physical properties of Inceptisol and enhances tomato productivity. Keywords: Inceptisol, aggregate stability, lamtoro compost, coconut shell biochar, tomato ABSTRAK Inceptisol merupakan ordo tanah yang memiliki kandungan bahan organik yang rendah, struktur kurang mantap, total ruang pori yang rendah dan bobot volume yang tinggi. Penurunan kualitas tanah pada lahan Inceptisol ditandai dengan rendahnya kandungan bahan organik, berat volume tinggi, dan agregat tanah yang tidak stabil, menjadi kendala utama dalam pengembangan pertanian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh aplikasi kompos lamtoro dan biochar tempurung kelapa terhadap kemantapan agregat Inceptisol dan hasil tanaman tomat (Solanum lycopersicum). Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Tangkit, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan lima perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Parameter yang diamati 1 Desriani et al., 2025 Aplikasi Kompos Lamtoro... meliputi sifat fisik tanah (bahan organik, berat volume, total ruang pori, agregat terbentuk, dan kemantapan agregat) serta tinggi dan hasil tanaman tomat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan kombinasi kompos lamtoro 10 ton/ha dan biochar tempurung kelapa 5 ton/ha (a2) memberikan hasil terbaik dalam meningkatkan kandungan bahan organik (8,20%), menurunkan berat volume (1,17 g/cm³), meningkatkan total ruang pori (54,60%), agregat terbentuk (81,95%), dan kemantapan agregat (72,87%). Perlakuan ini juga menghasilkan tinggi tanaman tertinggi (55,35 cm) dan hasil panen tertinggi (12,34 kg/petak). Dengan demikian, kombinasi kompos lamtoro dan biochar tempurung kelapa terbukti efektif dalam memperbaiki sifat fisik tanah Inceptisol serta meningkatkan produktivitas tomat.
