Abstract
This study examines the ecofeminist movement carried out by the Komunitas Perempuan Padek (PEPA) in Sumber Jaya Village, Kumpeh Ulu District, in response to land conflicts with PT Fajar Pematang Indah Lestari (FPIL). The conflict has resulted in land grabbing and the exploitation of natural resources, with social, economic, and ecological consequences, particularly for women. Using Vandana Shiva’s ecofeminist perspective which highlights the close connection between environmental exploitation and the oppression of women and a social capital approach, this research analyzes how solidarity, trust, and social networks strengthen the women’s movement. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with PEPA members, community leaders, and relevant institutions. The findings show that PEPA builds a community-based resistance strategy by strengthening social capital and restoring ecological knowledge. Activities such as demonstrations, collective farming, and the cultivation of medicinal plants (TOGA) serve as forms of ecological resistance and also reinforce intra-community solidarity. Ecofeminist values are reflected in their rejection of destructive development, efforts to restore local ecosystems, and organizing practices based on shared trust and communal norms. The PEPA movement demonstrates that women can act as strategic agents in agrarian and ecological struggles through the social, cultural, and ecological strengths of their communities. These findings affirm the importance of a community-based ecofeminist approach in understanding women's resistance to structural inequality and environmental crises in Indonesia. Keywords: Ecofeminism, Vandana Shiva, land conflict, women’s movement, PEPA.
