Abstract
Kata kunci: kopi Liberika, Hypothenemus hampei, mikroklimat, gulma, pengelolaan kebun ABSTRACT This study aimed to analyze the effect of microclimate and several plantation characteristics on the infestation and population of the coffee berry borer (Hypothenemus hampei Ferr.) in Liberica coffee (Coffea liberica L.) plantations in Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency. Observations were conducted on three types of farms with different levels of management: well-managed, moderately managed, and unmanaged farms. The observed variables included canopy and soil temperature and humidity, light intensity, and fresh and dry weed biomass. The results showed that H. hampei infestation levels were significantly higher in unmanaged or poorly managed farms. Microclimate factors, particularly canopy temperature and humidity, had a significant effect on infestation intensity. Furthermore, higher weed biomass and moisture levels were positively associated with increased pest populations. This study highlights the importance of good plantation practices such as pruning, fertilization, and weed control to effectively suppress pest development. The findings are expected to support the development of more sustainable pest management strategies in Liberica coffee plantations, especially in peatland areas.
