Abstract
Abstract The livestock and agricultural sectors play a vital role in the community's economy. However, the resulting waste, if not managed properly, can cause environmental pollution. Processing waste into biobriquettes is an effective option to minimize negative impacts and become a renewable energy source. This study aimed to determine the effect of a combination of pineapple crowns and cow dung biobriquettes on the quality of the cow dung biobriquettes. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and five replications. Each treatment consisted of 20 experimental units. The treatment composition consisted of a mixture of cow dung: pineapple crowns: tapioca: molasses: lavender extract with the following percentages: F80M0 (80%: 0%: 12%: 6%: 2%), F70M10 (70%: 10%: 12%: 6%: 2%), F60M20 (60%: 20%: 12%: 6%: 2%), F50M30 (50%: 30%: 12%: 6%: 2%). The parameters observed included moisture content, ash content, calorific value, and combustion rate. The experimental results showed that moisture content and combustion rate were not significantly different (P > 0.05), while ash content and calorific value showed very significant differences (P < 0.01) between treatments. The lowest moisture content was found in F70M10 (7.71%), while the lowest ash content was found in F50M30 (25.91%), the highest calorific value was found in F60M20 (4,099 cal/g), and the highest combustion rate was found in F70M10 (0.128 g/min). It was concluded that the best biobriquette combination was one containing 50% cow dung, 30% pineapple crowns, 12% tapioca flour, 6% molasses, and 2% lavender extract. This combination was quite effective, producing low ash content and increasing the calorific value of the cow dung biobriquettes.
