Abstract
ABSTRACK This introductory chapter provides the overview of the research. This chapter is divided into five sections. They include the background of study, limitation of the study, problem of the study, the purpose of the study, the significance of the research, and, definition of key terms. Next chapter is divided into five sections. The first reviews English for spesific purpose, more spesifically English for psychology students. The second section explains about syllabus. The third section explains need analysis. The fourth section explains the term research and development, and, ADDIE model. The last section is the sections reviewing previous studies that as reference of this research This third chapter discusses the research methodology of the study. There are five sections in this chapter. The first section explains the research design. Second section describes the participant of the study. The third section outlines the research and development procedure of the research. The fourth section presents the instruments that wll be used in the research. The last section of this chapter describes data analysis technique this research Then next chapter presents findings and discussion of the ways a syllabus development. This chapter explains first how to identify analyze the competences, how to producing a style manual and how to determine and collecting resources. Second section explains how to determine restate the instructional goal in the design, and will explain how identify activities based on need analysis. The validation phase explains whether this syllabus is worthy or not and whether this syllabus is in accordance with the need analysis Last The entire process of reseach and development from analysis to evaluation of developing an English syllabus for students of psychology study program in Jambi there are several conclusions as follow: First, this reseach is research and development that tried to answer the procedure of developing an English syllabus for psychology students. Then, this research also developed the syllabus
