ABSTRACT Ermiati, Metty. 2021. The Influence of the Learning Model on Students' Motivation and Interest by Using a Gas Thermometer Media on Temperature Materials at SMA Negeri 6 Jambi City. Thesis, Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education, FKIP Jambi University, Supervisor: (I) Haerul Pathoni, S.Pd., M.PFis., (II) Dwi Agus Kurniawan, S.Pd., M.Pd., Keywords: Motivation, Interest, Group investigation, Inquiry, Gas Thermometer Media. This research focuses on the use of the learning model Group Investigation and the model Inquiry on the motivation and interest of students by using a gas thermometer as the media. The study compared the interests and motivations of students after using the learning model Group Investigation and the model Inquiry assisted by gas thermometer media on absolute temperature scale material in grade XI MIPA SMA Negeri 6 Jambi. The purpose of this study was to apply a gas thermometer as a learning medium on the absolute temperature scale material and to measure students' motivation and interest in using a gas thermometer as a learning medium. This study uses a quasi-experimental research method with Post-test Only Control Group Design. The sample in this study amounted to 72 people, specifically all students of grade XI MIPA 1 and MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 6 Jambi. The results of this study indicate that students' motivation when using the learning model group investigation and inquiry there is no significant difference, it can be seen from the results of the independent sample T test, is (t(70) = -2.221, p>0.5). Furthermore, the interest of students' in using the learning model group investigation and inquiry there was no difference between the results of the independent sample T test (t(70) = -1.223, p>0.5). The results of this study indicate that there is no difference in motivation with the use of group investigation and inquiry learning models.
