Abstract
This research aims at finding the students’ perception towards the habits of watching English movies in mastering vocabulary. Furthermore, the research used descriptive qualitative methods and there were eight participants who participated in this research, which were selected using the purposive sampling method and met the criteria desired by the researcher. For this reason, there were several criteria considered in selecting the participants, firstly Students who had experience watching English movies, secondly Students who have taken Listening for academic purposes, Speaking for academic purposes, Reading for academic purposes, Writing for academic purposes, and thirdly EFL students who are willing to take part in this research activity. Moreover, the researcher used semi-structured interviews as an instrument in data collection. The results revealed that according to students' perceptions, movies have a positive impact on vocabulary development. Students stated that English movies can increase knowledge and develop vocabulary, including informal vocabulary, idioms, and slang words. The researcher also found that English movies help students' receptive and productive vocabulary. In addition, the use of movies can also develop English language skills, especially in speaking and listening. Likewise, students also gain confidence in using the language. In conclusion, according to students' perception, watching movies can improve vocabulary mastery. Keywords: Perception, Habits, English Movies, Vocabulary Mastery.
