Abstract

penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan eksistensi tokoh utama dalam novel Gdais Pencari Tuhan karya Theresia Ametembun dengan kajian eksistensialisme Soren Kierkegaard. eksistensi merupakan proses untuk menunjukkan keberadaannyadalam kehidupan dengan tujuan mencapai kehidupan yang lebih baik. metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode penelitian kualitatif. data penelitian ini berupa eksistensi tokoh utama perempuan dalam novel gadis pencari tuhan karya Theresia Ametembun. hasil yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) tahapan estetis yang tergambar pada tokoh Essie yang membiarkan dirinya menderita dan tertekan oleh teman sebaya atau susternya. hal ini terjadi karena tokoh Essie masih belum bisa membedakan mana perilaku yang baik dan buruk untuk hidupnya.(2) tahapan etis yang tergambar pada tokoh Essie memutuskan menjadi suster atau misionaris, pada tahap ini Essie sudah menjadi individu yang dapat mempertimbangkan baik dan buruk.(3) tahap religius yang tergambar pada tokoh Essie ia mulai mengunjungi tuhan yang ada di kapel biara.Ia juga memahami dan menemukan konsep keberadaan tuhan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu tokoh Essie pada novel Gadis Pencari Tuhan yang menunjukkan eksistensi diri secara sempurna. This study aims to describe the existence of the main female character in the novel Gadis Pencari Tuhan by Theresia Ametembun with the study of Soren Kierkegaard's Existentialism. The existence that will be studied here is divided into three stages, namely aesthetic, ethical, and religious. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method based on the study of Soren Kierkegaard's existentialism to determine the three stages that are passed. The data in this study were obtained by means of a note-taking technique in the novel Gadis Pencari Tuhan. From the results of the research that has been conducted to analyze the existence of the main female character in the novel Gadis Pencari Tuhan, the researcher found a total of 29 data covering three stages, namely aesthetic, ethical, and religious. The data found were 18 aesthetic stage data, 4 ethical stage data, and 7 religious stage data. The data obtained were in the form of quotes from sentences, phrases and words found in the novel Gadis Pencari Tuhan. The conclusion of this study is that the character Essie in the novel Gadis Pencari Tuhan by Theresia Ametembun shows perfect self-existence
