Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pesatnya perkembangan teknologi di era digital yang menuntut dunia pendidikan, khususnya perguruan tinggi, untuk mengadopsi metode pembelajaran yang inovatif dan relevan dengan kebutuhan abad ke-21. Fenomena yang terjadi menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa semakin banyak memanfaatkan AI, seperti chatbot dan platform AI lainnya, untuk mencari informasi dan menyelesaikan tugas perkuliahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi penerapan model pembelajaran PjBL yang didukung oleh AI dalam pembelajaran mahasiswa Universitas Jambi, mengidentifikasi berbagai tantangan dan hambatan yang dihadapi dalam implementasinya, serta merumuskan solusi yang diterapkan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian fenomenologi. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap mahasiswa dan dosen Program Studi Pendidikan Ekonomi Universitas Jambi yang terlibat langsung dalam pembelajaran berbasis proyek dan penggunaan artificial intelligence sebagai alat bantu dalam menyelesaikan tugas akademik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi Project-Based Learning dan Artificial Intelligence di Universitas Jambi berdampak positif dalam meningkatkan keaktifan, kreativitas, kolaborasi, dan pemahaman kontekstual mahasiswa sesuai keterampilan abad ke-21.Meskipun demikian, penerapan ini juga menghadapi berbagai tantangan atau hambatan baik dari segi project-based learning maupun dari sisi artificial intelligence. Untuk mengatasinya, digunakan sejumlah solusi yang mendukung terciptanya ekosistem pembelajaran yang adaptif, reflektif, dan kontekstual. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpiulkan bahwa penggunaan Project-Based Learning dan Artificial Intelligence dalam pembelajaran di Universitas Jambi memberikan peluang yang signifikan bagi transformasi pendidikan terutama dalam membentuk mahasiswa yang kompeten, inovatif, dan mampu merespons tantangan era digital. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa PjBL yang diintegrasikan dengan AI berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi. Melalui integrasi tersebut, mahasiswa menjadi lebih kompeten dan siap menghadapi tantangan di era digital. Oleh karena itu, dosen dan mahasiswa disarankan untuk memanfaatkan AI secara bijak dan mengintegrasikannya dengan PjBL agar proses pembelajaran menjadi lebih adaptif dan kontekstual. This research is motivated by the rapid technological developments in the digital era, which demand that education, particularly higher education institutions, adopt innovative learning methods relevant to 21st-century needs. This phenomenon indicates that students are increasingly utilizing AI, such as chatbots and other AI platforms, to search for information and complete course assignments. This study aims to explore the application of the AI-supported Project-Based Learning (PjBL) learning model in student learning at the University of Jambi, identify the challenges and obstacles encountered in its implementation, and formulate solutions to address these issues. This study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with students and lecturers in the Economics Education Study Program at the University of Jambi who were directly involved in project-based learning and the use of artificial intelligence as a tool in completing academic assignments. The results indicate that the integration of Project-Based Learning and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Jambi has a positive impact on increasing student engagement, creativity, collaboration, and contextual understanding in line with 21st-century skills. However, this implementation also faces various challenges and obstacles, both in terms of project-based learning and artificial intelligence. To address this, several solutions are being implemented to support the creation of an adaptive, reflective, and contextual learning ecosystem. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the use of Project-Based Learning and Artificial Intelligence in teaching at the University of Jambi offers significant opportunities for educational transformation, particularly in developing competent, innovative students who are able to respond to the challenges of the digital era. These findings confirm that Project-Based Learning (PjBL) integrated with AI contributes to improving the quality of learning in higher education. Through this integration, students become more competent and prepared to face the challenges of the digital era. Therefore, lecturers and students are advised to utilize AI wisely and integrate it with Project-Based Learning (PjBL) to make the learning process more adaptive and contextual.
