Abstract

ABSTRACT Makayasa, Aditya Baruna (2020). The Investigation of Fourth Semester English Students’ Perspective on the Factors of Speaking Anxiety among the EFL Students in Jambi University and Ways to Deal with it. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Jambi University. The first supervisor is Yanto, S.Pd., M.Ed. The second supervisor is Duty Volya, S.Pd., M.Pd. This study was aimed to analyze the students’ perspective on the factors of speaking anxiety in the classroom context and ways used to deal with it. The participants of this study were students from an English study program at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at one public university in Jambi. The study involved 10 participants in English department. This study used qualitative method. The results of this study indicated that there were two main factors of speaking anxiety, which are language difficulties and language anxiety. Most participants also stated that there are several activities they do to deal with this problem, such as self-motivation and help from people around them Key words: Speaking anxiety and speaking activities.
