Abstract

Background : Hypertension is the main cause of death in Indonesia. Many factors that cause hypertension are both changeable and irrefiable. The purpose of this study is to determine the determinant of hypertension incidence at the age of > 40 years in Jambi Province. Methods : This study used secondary data for Riset Kesehatan Dasar 2018, crossectional design, using two-stage sampling. Results : The proportion of hypertension in Jambi Province was 44.7%, female respondents 50.6%, not physical activity 50.9, smoking 32.4%, alcohol consumption 0.6%, Obesity 21.9%, stress 45.6% and lack of fruit and vegetable consumption 5.5%. Factors related to the incidence of hypertension at the age of > 40 years in Jambi Province are gender, lack of physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption, obesity, stress and consumption of fruits and vegetables. The dominant factor of hypertension incidence at the age of > 40 years is obesity (POR: 1,986 95%CI:1,701-2,318). Conclusion : There is a relationship between gender, lack of physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption, bmi, stress and hypertension incidence at the age of > 40 years in Jambi Province.
