Students’ Perspective on Their Teachers’ Ways in Teaching Vocabulary at One State Junior High School in Kota Jambi: Thesis, English Study Program, Faculty of Teaching Training and Education Universitas Jambi. The first supervisor: Indri Anastasia, S.S., MA. The second supervisor: Hidayati, S.Pd., M. Pd. Keywords: Students’ perspective, vocabulary teaching ways In learning a language, vocabulary is one of the crucial aspects that have to be considered by teachers. Therefore, English teachers have to be skillful in choosing appropriate techniques that will be applied in the class in order to make the teaching and learning process effective. This research is being conducted to find out the students’ perspective about vocabulary activities that teachers gave to their students.. To investigate the perception of teachers’ ways in teaching vocabulary from the student’s perspective, in this study the research uses a qualitative design with a case study approach. The study was conducted in one of the junior high schools in Jambi, SMP N 11 Kota Jambi. 10 students from grade 9th were chosen to be participants in this study. To gather deep information, the researcher uses interviews and observation for data collection. All the data collected was analyzed using the theory from Braun and Clarke (2006). Based on the findings, from the student’s perspective, they were experienced taught by using drilling, spelling, objects, pictures, drawing, contrast, and active involvement by their teacher. From all of those ways, students committed the use of drilling, spelling, objects, active involvement, and contrast were their favorites.
