Abstract
Batupasir merupakan batuan sedimen klastik, dimana batuan sedimen ini tersusun oleh hasil hancuran batuan lain yang sudah ada terlebih dahulu (batuan asal) baik dari batuan beku, sedimen ataupun metamorf yang telah mengalami transportasi atau perpindahan. Oleh karena itu, keterdapatan batupasir ini memberikan peluang untuk melakukan studi batuan asal, sebagai upaya untuk mengindentifikasi tipe batuan asal, tatanan tektonik pengendapan batupasir dan iklim purba sumber batuan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kecamatan Renah Mendaluh, Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat, Provinsi Jambi dimana secara geologi berada di cekungan Sumatra Selatan (Sub-Cekungan Jambi), tepatnya pada Formasi Lahat, Talangakar, dan Airbenakat. Pada penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi geologi daerah penelitian, mengetahui tipe batuan asal, dan hubungan batuan asal dengan tatanan tektonik di daerah penelitian. Dalam penelitian ini metode yang digunakan untuk analisis data yaitu metode deskripsi secara megaskopis, dan petrografi. Metode tersebut digunakan untuk mengetahui deskripsi sampel penelitian secara megaskopis dan mikroskopis serta hasil dari analisis petrografi digunakan untuk analisis batuan asal. Pada daerah penelitian terdapat 2 bentuklahan yaitu Perbukitan Sinklin dan Lembah Sinklin dengan pola pengaliran berupa Subdendritik dan Contorted. Satuan batuan pada daerah penelitian yaitu Konglomerat Lahat, Batupasir Talangakar, Batupasir Airbenakat, dan Serpih Airbenakat. Berdasarkan hasil analisis yang telah dilakukan pada sampel Batupasir Talangakar (LP 29 dan 30) berasal dari batuan granit yang termetamorfosa derajat menengah dengan tatanan tektonik berdasarkan diagram Qt-F-L berasal dari Magmatic Arc serta diagram Qm-F-Lt berasal dari Recycled Orogen, dengan iklim purbanya adalah iklim kering. Sedangkan pada sampel Batupasir Airbenakat (LP 9 & 29) berasal dari gneiss, slate atau sekis dengan tatanan tektonik berdasarkan diagram Qt-F-L berasal dari Continental Block dan Recycled Orogenic serta diagram Qm-F-Lt berasal dari Magmatic Arc, dan iklim purbanya berupa iklim lembab. Kata kunci: Sub Cekungan Jambi, Batuan Asal, Tatanan Tektonik, Iklim Purba. Sandstone is a clastic sedimentary rock, where this sedimentary rock is composed of the results of the destruction of other rocks that already exist (original rocks) either from igneous, sedimentary or metamorphic rocks that have undergone transportation or displacement. Therefore, the presence of this sandstone provides an opportunity to conduct a study of original rocks, as an effort to identify the type of original rock, the tectonic setting of sandstone deposition and the ancient climate of the source rock. This research was conducted in Renah Mendaluh District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi Province which is geologically located in the South Sumatra basin (Jambi Sub-Basin), precisely in the Lahat, Talangakar, and Airbenakat Formations. This study aims to determine the geological conditions of the research area, determine the type of original rock, and the relationship of original rock with the tectonic setting in the research area. In this study, the methods used for data analysis are the megascopic description method and petrography. This method is used to determine the description of the research sample megascopically and microscopically and the results of the petrography analysis are used for the analysis of original rocks. In the research area there are 2 landforms, namely Syncline Hills and Syncline Valleys with Subdendritic and Contorted drainage patterns. The rock units in the research area are Lahat Conglomerate, Talangakar Sandstone, Airbenakat Sandstone, and Airbenakat Shale. Based on the results of the analysis that has been carried out on the Talangakar Sandstone samples (LP 29 and 30) originating from medium-grade metamorphosed granite rocks with a tectonic setting based on the Qt-F-L diagram originating from the Magmatic Arc and the Qm-F-Lt diagram originating from the Recycled Orogen, with its ancient climate being a dry climate. While the Airbenakat Sandstone samples (LP 9 & 29) originate from gneiss, slate or schist with a tectonic setting based on the Qt-F-L diagram originating from the Continental Block and Recycled Orogenic and the Qm-F-Lt diagram originating from the Magmatic Arc, and its ancient climate being a humid climate.
