Abstract

Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi strategi apa saja yang digunakan guru dalam mengajar teks eksposisi analisis dan bagaimana cara menerapkan strategi tersebut. Data dari penelitian ini diperoleh dari dua orang guru Bahasa Inggris yang mengajar siswa kelas dua SMA Negeri 15 Muaro Jambi yang menjadi partisipan dalam penelitian ini melalui wawancara dan observasi. Analisis data dari penelitian ini menggunakan teori Miles & Huberman (1994) yang terdiri dari tiga tahap yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa ada tiga metode yang digunakan guru sebagai strategi dalam mengajar teks eksposisi analisis yaitu penggunaan permainan sebelum pembelajaran, Metode Problem Based Learning (PBL) dan Metode Jigsaw. Kedua metode tersebut diterapkan dalam pendekatan kolaboratif dengan membentuk beberapa kelompok siswa. Dalam metode Problem Based Learning (PBL), guru memberikan suatu permasalahan kepada sekelompok siswa, yang nantinya mereka akan memahami permasalahan tersebut dan mereka akan mengemukakan beberapa pendapat terkait permasalahan tersebut, kemudian mereka akan mengembangkan pendapat tersebut menjadi sebuah teks. Sedangkan pada metode jigsaw lebih menitikberatkan pada pemahaman materi terkait konsep teks eksposisi analitis dimana guru menciptakan pembelajaran kooperatif untuk membentuk pemahaman yang utuh terhadap materi yang dipelajari. This qualitative study aims to explore what strategies are used by teachers in teaching analytical exposition text and how to implement these strategies. Data from this study were obtained from two English teachers who teach second grade students at SMA Negeri 15 Muaro Jambi who became participants in this study through interviews and observations. Data analysis from this study used the theory of Miles & Huberman (1994) consists of three stages including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study found that there are three methods used by teachers as their strategies in teaching analytical exposition text including the game usage before learning, Problem Based Learning (PBL) Method and the Jigsaw Method. Both methods are applied in a collaborative approach by forming several groups of students. In the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method, the teacher gives an issue to a group of students, which they will later understand the problem and they will come up with several opinions related to the problem, then they will develop the opinions into a text. While in the jigsaw method, it focuses more on the understanding of the material related to the concept of analytical exposition text where the teacher creates cooperative learning to form a complete understanding of the material being studied.
