Abstract

Praktik mengajar merupakan komponen penting dalam mempersiapkan mahasiswa calon guru agar mampu menghadapi dinamika pendidikan abad ke-21 yang menuntut penguasaan kompetensi pedagogis, komunikasi, dan adaptasi lintas budaya. Program SEA Teacher, yang memberikan kesempatan bagi mahasiswa pendidikan untuk melaksanakan praktik mengajar di negara Asia Tenggara lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali pengalaman mahasiswa calon guru dalam praktik mengajar ekonomi pada program SEA Teacher Batch IX di Filipina, serta menganalisis praktik tersebut melalui pendekatan SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). Penelitian ini diharapkan mampu memberikan pemahaman subjekstif mendalam mengenai kekuatan, kelemahan, peluang, dan ancaman yang dihadapi peserta selama proses mengajar lintas negara. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis fenomenologi. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap empat informan yang merupakan mahasiswa Indonesia peserta program SEA Teacher di Filipina. Seluruh data dianalisis menggunakan bantuan perangkat lunak NVivo 12 untuk mengkoding data dan kategorisasi data berdasarkan pendekatan SWOT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik mengajar lintas negara memberikan pengalaman yang memperkaya secara profesional dan personal. Kekuatan terletak pada kesiapan materi, fleksibilitas strategi pembelajaran, dan dukungan institusional, sedangkan kelemahan muncul dari keterbatasan bahasa Inggris dan pengalaman internasional. Peluang yang muncul antara lain pengembangan karier profesional, perluasan jejaring relasi internasional, serta paparan terhadap lingkungan belajar yang inklusif dan professional. Ancaman yang dihadapi meliputi perbedaan sistem pendidikan, keterbatasan waktu program, kurangnya fasilitas pendukung, serta tantangan adaptasi budaya di lingkungan sosial dan sekolah. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa program SEA Teacher memberikan dampak terhadap kesiapan calon pendidik abad 21, namun tetap memerlukan penyempurnaan. Disarankan agar lembaga penyelenggara program meningkatkan durasi praktik, memperkuat pelatihan pra-keberangkatan, dan peserta dapat mengoptimalkan kemapuan bahasa inggris dan persiapan pra-kebarangkatan. Teaching practice is an important component in preparing student teachers to be able to face the dynamics of 21st century education that requires mastery of pedagogical competence, communication, and cross-cultural adaptation. The SEA Teacher Program, which provides opportunities for education students to carry out teaching practice in other Southeast Asian countries. This study aims to explore the experiences of prospective teacher students in the practice of teaching economics in the SEA Teacher Batch IX program in the Philippines, and analyze these practices through a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) approach. This research is expected to provide an in-depth subjective understanding of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced by participants during the cross-country teaching process. This study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological type. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with four informants who are Indonesian students participating in the SEA Teacher program in the Philippines. All data were analyzed using NVivo 12 software to code the data and categorize the data based on the SWOT approach.The results show that cross-country teaching practice provides a professionally and personally enriching experience. Strengths lie in material readiness, flexibility of learning strategies, and institutional support, while weaknesses arise from limited English language and international experience. Opportunities include professional career development, expansion of international networks, and exposure to inclusive and professional learning environments. Threats faced include differences in education systems, limited program time, lack of supporting facilities, and challenges of cultural adaptation in the social and school environment. The conclusion of this study shows that the SEA Teacher program has an impact on the readiness of prospective 21st century educators, but still requires improvement. It is recommended that the program organizing institution increase the duration of practice, strengthen pre-departure training, and participants can optimize English language skills and pre-departure preparation.
