Abstract

This research was motivated by the researcher’s observations in the field, which showed that there are still several issues related to children's health literacy. Among these issues is the habit of bringing unhealthy snacks from home, such as candy, chocolate, instant noodles, and packaged snacks. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of Busy Book media on the health literacy of children aged 5–6 years at TK Puri Masurai II, Jambi Luar Kota District. This study used a Pre-Experimental Design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 15 children in Group B. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. In this study, the researcher used an observation sheet as the research instrument, which had previously been validated. The data analysis techniques used included normality testing, homogeneity testing, and hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample Test. The results of the hypothesis testing using the paired samples t-test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, thus Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant influence between the pretest and posttest health literacy scores of children aged 5–6 years at TK Puri Masurai II, Jambi Luar Kota District. To determine the magnitude of the effect, an effect size calculation using Cohen’s formula was conducted. The result showed that the effect size of the use of Busy Book media on health literacy was 4.5. According to the Cohen’s effect size interpretation criteria table, this value falls into the strong effect category regarding the health literacy of children aged 5–6 years. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that the use of Busy Book media has a positive influence on the health literacy of children aged 5–6 years at TK Puri Masurai II, Jambi Luar Kota District.
