Abstract
ABSTRACT Vidiarani, F. 2019. Pre-service English Teachers Problems in Using Pedagogical Content Knowledge at Teaching Practice. Thesis. English Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Jambi University in Academic Year 2018/2019. The first supervisor Nyimas Triyana Safitri, S.Pd., M.Ed.St. The second supervisor is Lilik Ulfiati, S.Pd., M.Pd. Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) is the blending of content and pedagogy knowledge intto an understanding of how particular of subject matter are organized, adapted and represented for instruction. The present study investigates problems of pre-service English teachers in using PCK at teaching practice. This study was conducted in one of public in Jambi University. This study used qualitative research. The participants of this study were the students of English Education program who have passed introducing of schooling environment (PLP) at seventh semester. The findings reveal that the participants’ PCK problems are partly coming from students, partly from pre-service English teachers, and partly from the school’s facility. Students problems related to student’s basic prior knowledge, student’s attitude in learning process, students motivation, and students interest. Meanwhile, pre-service English teachers problems are their creativity, limited time of observation, and pre-service English teachers readiness in teaching. In addition, facilities issues include inadequate facilities. Key words: pedagogical content knowedge, pck, pre-service english teachers, teaching practice
