Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh karakteristik gaya kognitif yaitu cara analisis dalam berinteraksi dengan lingkungannya, rendahnya Higher Order Thingking Skills (HOTS) dan pentingnya self efficacy sebagai faktor internal yang mendorong peserta didik untuk berprestasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan antara Higher Order Thingking Skills (HOTS) dengan self efficacy yang ditinjau dari gaya kognitif field independent dan field dependent materi transformasi geometri kelas XII SMA. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian ex post facto dengan pendekatan dan metode kuantitatif. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan yaitu purposive sampling sebanyak 30 orang dari masing-masing gaya kognitif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA Negeri 11 Kab. Tebo pada 23 Maret sampai 23 April 2021. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan cara menyebarkan Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT) sebagai data awal untuk menentukan anggota sampel, menyebarkan data angket self efficacy dan menyebarkan tes Higher Order Thingking Skills. Setelah hasil didapatkan, data dianalisis secara kuantitatif dengan uji korelasi dua pihak menggunakan Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 20. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan Higher Order Thingking Skills (HOTS) dan self efficacy yang tinjau dari gaya kognitif field independent materi transformasi geometri kelas XII SMA Negeri 11 Kabupaten Tebo yaitu 0,402 dimana interval koefisiennya memiliki tingkat hubungan sedang, hal ini juga dikuatkan dengan uji statitistik yang signifikan dan tidak terdapat hubungan antara Higher Order Thingking Skills (HOTS) dengan self efficacy ditinjau dari gaya kognitif field dependent materi transformasi geometri kelas XII SMA Negeri 11 Kabupaten Tebo, hal ini juga dikuatkan dengan uji statitistik yang tidak signifikan. Dari hasil penelitian ini disarankan agar guru lebih memperhatikan keadaan lingkungan sekitar ketika pembelajaran terutama agar peserta didik field dependent mampu menyerap materi pembelajaran dengan baik, memberikan soal-soal Higher Order Thingking Skills (HOTS) secara rutin agar peserta didik terbiasa mengerjakan soal-soal yang membutuhkan analisis tinggi dan stimulus untuk meningkatkan self efficacy. This research is motivated by the characteristics of cognitive style, namely the way of analysis in interacting with the environment, the low level of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and the importance of self-efficacy as an internal factor that encourages students to excel. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and self-efficacy in terms of field independent cognitive style and field dependent geometry transformation material for class XII SMA. This type of research is ex post facto research with quantitative approaches and methods. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling as many as 30 people from each cognitive style. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 11 Kab. Tebo on March 23 to April 23, 2021. Research data was obtained by distributing the Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT) as initial data to determine sample members, distributing self efficacy questionnaire data and distributing Higher Order Thinking Skills tests. After the results were obtained, the data were analyzed quantitatively by using a two-party correlation test using Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 20. The results showed that there was a relationship between Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and self-efficacy in terms of the field independent cognitive style of geometry transformation material for class XII SMA Negeri 11 Tebo Regency, namely 0.402 where the coefficient interval has a moderate level of relationship, this is also confirmed by statistical tests which is significant and there is no relationship between Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and self-efficacy in terms of field dependent cognitive style material transformation geometry class XII SMA Negeri 11 Tebo Regency, this is also corroborated by statistical tests which are not significant. From the results of this study, it is recommended that teachers pay more attention to the state of the surrounding environment when learning, especially so that field dependent students are able to absorb learning material well, give Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions regularly so that students get used to working on questions that require high analysis and stimulus to increase self efficacy.
