Abstract

This study aims to analyze vocational students’ perception in using WhatsApp as a learning tool in EFL class during online learning . This study involved three vocational school students who experienced study during online learning using WhatsApp as learning tool. The data of the present study were collected through semi structured interviews. Therefore the finding of this study was analyzed using descriptive analysis. The findings of the present study were divided into three main themes. Each of the main themes has sub-themes inside. The first finding is about vocational students’ perception toward the use of WhatsApp as learning media and it’s sub-themes consisted of; 1) the learning process using WhatsApp as a learning media, 2) students’ perception toward the use of WhatsApp as learning media. Thus the second finding is about students’ perception of the benefits in using WhatsAp as the online learning media. Furthermore the third finding reveal about students’ challenges in using WhatsApp as the online learning media, which it’s sub-themes consisted of; 1) students challenge in using WhatsApp, and 2) the way students’ solve their problems in using WhatsApp as learning media. In addition the conclusion of the findings said that using WhatsApp is a good choice to implement the online learning. It happen because the students’ showed their positive perception toward the use of WhatsApp during online learning. Keywords: WhatsApp; Online Learning
