Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas peran Museum Gentala Arasy melalui koleksinya dalam upaya untuk merepresentasikan sejarah perkembangan Islam yang ada di wilayah Seberang Kota Jambi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan antara lain analisis bentuk pada koleksi dengan menggunakan pendekatan representasi untuk melihat koleksi apa saja yang mewakili sejarah perkembangan Islam dan identitas masyarakat melayu Seberang Kota Jambi. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini ialah Museum Gentala Arasy memiliki koleksi berupa empat naskah kuno dan 10 busana yang terdiri dari tiga jubah, tiga syal, dan empat topi trobus yang dapat merepresentasikan sejarah perkembangan Islam di wilayah Seberang Kota Jambi. Peran museum sebagai media komunikasi sejarah perkembangan islam di Seberang Kota Jambi kepada public melalui koleksinya, dapat dilakukan dengan pengembangan narasi, pameran temporal atau pameran khusus dan edukator museum dalam melakukan kegiatan edukasi kepada pengunjung. This study discusses the role of the Gentala Throne Museum through its collections in an effort to represent the history of the development of Islam in the Seberang area of Jambi City. The research method used includes an analysis of the forms of the collection using a representational approach to see which collections represent the history of the development of Islam and the identity of the Malay people in Seberang Kota Jambi. The conclusion from the results of this study is that the Gentala Throne Museum has a collection of four ancient manuscripts and 10 clothing consisting of three robes, three scarves and four trobus hats which can represent the history of the development of Islam in the Seberang City of Jambi. The role of the museum as a communication medium for the history of the development of Islam in Seberang Kota Jambi to the public through its collections, can be carried out by developing narratives, temporal exhibitions or special exhibitions and museum educators in conducting educational activities for visitors.
