Abstract

ABSTRAK Santi Tresiani Pakpahan (A1B220026). THE IMPACT OF USING YOUTUBE VIDEOS IN TEACHING SPEAKING ON STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY. Skripsi. Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Ilmu Keguruan Dan Kependidikan, Universitas Jambi, 2024. Pembimbing 1 Pembimbing 2 Tubagus Zam Zam Al Arif, S.Pd., M.PD. Dedy Kurniawan, S.S, M.A. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah agar mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan video YouTube terhadap kemampuan kosakata siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMAN 11 Kota Jambi, pada kelas X semester genap tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitative dengan quasieksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas sepuluh SMAN 11 Kota Jambi. Sampel terdiri dari 34 siswa kelas X1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan 34 siswa kelas X4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Adapun instrumen pada penelitian ini adalah tes lisan untuk pre-test dan post-test. Teknik analisis data dengan paired sample T-Test menggunakan SPSS 23. Kelas eksperimen diajar menggunakan media YouTube dan kelas kontrol secara konvensional. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan perbedaan hasil belajar sebesar 82.65 untuk kelas eksperimen, dan 70.74 untuk kelas kontrol. Nilai sig. (2-tailed) adalah 0.000 < 0,05. Berdasarkan hasilnya, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Hipotesis Null (H0) ditolak dan Hipotesis Alternatif (H1) diterima. Hasil penemuan dari penelitian ini telah menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penggunaan media pembelajaran video YouTube terhadap kemampuan kosakata siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris pada kelas X SMAN 11 Kota Jambi.tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Dedy Kurniawan, S.S, M.A. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of YouTube video as learning media to students’ vocabulary in speaking English. This study was carried out at SMAN 11 Jambi city, in tenth grade at the second semester of 2023/2024 academic year. This study used quantitative method applied quasi-experimental research. The population of this research was the tenth grade students of SMAN 11 Jambi city. The sample was 34 students from class X1 as the experimental class and 34 students from class X4 as the control class. The instrument in this research was oral test for pre-test and post-test. The data were analysed with paired sample T-Test through SPSS 23. Experiment class were taught with YouTube video and conventional for control class. The result revealed a difference in results from of 82.65 on experimental class, and 70.74 on control class. Sig. value. (2-tailed) was 0.000 < 0.05. Based on the findings, it was assumed that Null Hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) was accepted. The findings in this study showed the implementation of YouTube video as learning media had an influence for students' vocabulary in speaking English at tenth grade SMAN 11 Jambi city of 2023/2024 academic year.
