Abstract

This study was aimed to describe the classroom management applied by English teachers in the learning process and identified the challenges faced by English teachers in classroom management in rural schools in the 2024/2025 academic year. The method used was qualitative descriptive research with the subject of the study being an English teacher at SMA S YKI. Data were collected through observations and interviews. The results of the study showed that the classroom management applied by teachers includes five main aspects, namely: (1) Physical design of the classroom, which involves seating arrangements; (2) Rules and Routines that make it easier for students to understand class expectations; (3) Relationships between students and between teachers and students’ parents; (4 Engaging and Motivation Instruction; and (5) Discipline to create a conducive learning environment. The challenges faced by English teachers included limited facilities in rural schools and lacked of readiness in teaching, especially in utilizing limited resources. Nevertheless, teachers were able to apply the five aspects of classroom management well to support the learning process effectively.
