Abstract

This study aims to develop a local wisdom based science book in Jambi, knowing the feasibility of science teaching books based on expert judgment and student motivation. The research method used is the Research and Development (R & D) research m ethod with the 4D development model. The research subjects involved were grade VIII students at Muaro Jambi 30th Middle School, material experts and media experts. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires for student and teacher needs, expert validation sheets, motivation questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis technique in this development research is using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques, namely the presentation of data and descriptive statistical data analysis techniques. Based on the results of the study showed that, 1) Development research produced products in the form of science books based on local wisdom of Jambi using scientific approach. 2) Feasibility of science teaching books based on the assessment of material experts obtained a mean value of 4.58 (Very good), media experts obtained a mean value of 4.5 (Very good). 3) Increased student learning motivation showed an increase of 17.9% from 63% increasing to 80.9%. The calculation results by using the gain score show a number of 0.48 so that the Jambi wisdom-based science teaching book can increase student learning motivation.
