Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kompleksitas struktur penceritaan dalam karya sastra modern yang tidak lagi mengikuti alur kronologis. Novel Kuda karya Panji Sukma menjadi objek kajian karena memperlihatkan pola penceritaan yang unik dan simbolik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur naratif novel Kuda berdasarkan teori Gerard Genette yang meliputi urutan, durasi, dan frekuensi naratif. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan naratologi, khususnya teori naratif struktural Genette. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa urutan naratif novel Kuda berjenis anakroni, alur cerita disampaikan tidak secara kronologis, novel ini menunjukkan antara urutan waktu dalam cerita dan penceritaan tidak sesuai. Durasi naratifnya memperlihatkan ketimpangan antara waktu cerita yang berlangsung selama 538 tahun dan waktu penceritaan yang hanya terdiri dari 330 paragraf. Frekuensi naratif, penceritaan didominasi oleh representasi tunggal, dan ditemukan representasi pengulangan yang digunakan untuk menekankan peristiwa tertentu dalam cerita. Struktur naratif novel Kuda dibangun melalui teknik anakroni, pemadatan waktu penceritaan, serta penggunaan frekuensi penceritaan yang bervariasi. Struktur ini mencerminkan strategi penulis dalam menyusun narasi yang tidak hanya bersifat informatif, tetapi juga reflektif dan simbolik. This research is motivated by the complexity of the narrative structure in modern literary works that no longer follow the chronological flow. The novel Kuda by Panji Sukma is the object of study because it shows a unique and symbolic storytelling pattern. This study aims to describe the narrative structure of the Kuda novel based on Gerard Genette's theory which includes the sequence, duration, and frequency of the narrative. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with a narratology approach, especially Genette's structural narrative theory. The results of the study show that the narrative sequence of the Kuda novel is anachronistic, the storyline is not presented chronologically, this novel shows that the sequence of time in the story and the storytelling does not match. The duration of the narrative shows an imbalance between the story time which lasts for 538 years and the storytelling time which only consists of 330 paragraphs. Narrative frequency, the storytelling is dominated by a single representation, and there is a repetition representation used to emphasize certain events in the story. The narrative structure of the Kuda novel is built through the technique of anachrony, compression of storytelling time, and the use of varying storytelling frequencies. This structure reflects the author's strategy in constructing a narrative that is not only informative, but also reflective and symbolic.
