Pembimbing pertama adalah DR. Dr. Rosinta Norawati, M.A., pembimbing kedua adalah Reny Heryanti, S.S., M.Hum. Kata Kunci: Pengaruh, Kepribadian, Presentasi Lisan, Berbicara Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji pengaruh kepribadian terhadap kemampuan presentasi lisan siswa dan apa yang mereka lakukan agar kemampuan presentasi lisannya menjadi lebih baik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, dan pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada mahasiswa semester ketiga (semester keempat saat peneliti menyelesaikan penelitian ini) dari program pendidikan bahasa Inggris di Universitas Jambi. Mahasiswa semester tiga dipilih oleh peneliti karena mereka mempunyai pengalaman yang cukup dalam melakukan presentasi dalam bahasa Inggris, mereka sudah mengetahui kekurangan presentasi mereka dan bagaimana cara memperbaikinya. Untuk menentukan tipe kepribadian mereka, 12 siswa menyelesaikan tes kepribadian di psiko-tests.com, yang didasarkan pada karya H.J. Eysenck (1985). Peneliti memilih 8 orang siswa, 2 orang diantaranya adalah orang optimis (perempuan dan perempuan), 2 orang diantaranya adalah koleris (perempuan dan perempuan), 2 orang diantaranya adalah melankolis (laki-laki dan perempuan), dan 2 orang diantaranya adalah orang yang apatis (laki-laki dan perempuan). , setelah mengetahui tipe kepribadian masing-masing siswa. Data dianalisis menggunakan prosedur analisis data yang dikemukakan oleh Miles dan Huberman, yang terdiri dari langkah reduksi, display, dan verifikasi data. Ada empat aspek keterampilan presentasi lisan yang dipelajari untuk mengetahui apakah kepribadian mempunyai pengaruh terhadap keterampilan presentasi lisan siswa, yaitu kegugupan/kecemasan, komunikasi dengan audiens, kepercayaan diri, dan kontribusi dalam presentasi kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari keempat aspek kemampuan presentasi lisan, kepribadian hanya memberikan pengaruh pada aspek kepercayaan diri, artinya kepribadian tidak mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan dalam menentukan baik atau buruknya keterampilan presentasi lisan siswa sejak saat itu. Ada beberapa variabel seperti persiapan dan seringnya partisipasi serta pengetahuan yang cukup tentang topik, harga diri, penguasaan bahasa yang lebih berpengaruh pada kemampuan presentasi lisan siswa daripada kepribadian. Mengembangkan keterampilan berbicara di depan umum, membuat catatan, latihan pengucapan, pengendalian diri, dan pemahaman materi adalah beberapa strategi yang digunakan siswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan presentasi lisannya. Keywords: Influence, Personality, Oral Presentation, Speaking The purpose of this research is to examine the influence of personality on students’ oral presentation ability and what do they do to make their oral presentation ability better. The study used a descriptive qualitative research method, and data was collected through interviews. The research was conducted on third semester students (fourth semester when the researcher completed this research) from English education programme at Jambi University. Third semester students have chosen by the researcher since they have enough experience presenting in English, they are already aware of their presentation flaws and how to fix it. To determine their personality types, 12 students completed a personality test at psycho-tests.com, which was based on the work of H.J. Eysenck (1985). The researcher chose 8 students, 2 of whom were sanguine (female and female), 2 of whom were choleric (female and female), 2 of whom were melancholic (male and female), and 2 of whom were phlegmatic (male and female), after learning the personality types of each student. The data was analysed using the procedure of data analysis suggested by Miles and Huberman, which consisted of step reduction, display, and verification data. There are four aspects of oral presentation skills that are studied to find out whether personality has an influence on students' oral presentation skills, namely nervousness/anxiety, communication with the audience, self-confidence, and contribution to group presentations. The results of the research show that of the four aspects of oral presentation ability, personality only has an influence on the self-confidence aspect, meaning that personality does not have a significant influence on determining whether students have good or bad oral presentation skills since there are some variables such as preparation and frequent participation and enough knowledge about the topic, self-esteem, language mastery that more influence on students’ oral presentation ability rather than personality. Developing public speaking skills, making a note, pronunciation practice, self-control, and understanding the material are some strategies used by students to make their oral presentation ability better.
